About Tao Flashes

Have you ever heard the saying, “The Journey of a Thousand Miles Starts with a Single Step?” It comes from an ancient classic called the Tao Te Ching.

Imagine a book that takes some of that ancient wisdom and interprets it from the point of view of a midlife woman.

That’s exactly what Lisa Froman does in Tao Flashes, A Woman’s Way to Navigating the Midlife Journey with Integrity, Harmony and Grace.

Commenting on the midlife transition, Froman says, “Just as we become wiser, more pliable, more beautiful, just as we begin to have clarity, we also begin to notice the signs of aging, the wrinkles, the sagging skin. At menopause, we battle hot flashes and watch as our bodies reshape themselves into something we may no longer recognize. At the time when we are gaining power, we often feel we are losing our beauty. But the life lessons we wear on our faces are actually the subtle reminders of a rich and beautiful life executed with grace through times of pain and glory.”

Using the 81 verses of the Tao Te Ching, she offers readers inspiration and guidance with reflections, journal questions and affirmations.

Tao Flashes is a very personal interpretation of the ancient Chinese classic, written from the perspective of a female in the throes of midlife. Drawing from her own experience after being “unearthed” after the ending of a 20-year marriage, job loss, and a general reordering of her life, Froman says a midlife crisis can be reframed into midlife consciousness.

Reviews

If contemporary women breezed through their middle-age years, there’d be no need for books like Tao Flashes. But they don’t—we don’t. This knowledge prompted local author Lisa G. Froman to publish this gift-worthy collection of reflections. Read the review here: http://inregister.com/42013/Tao_Flashes .
